The Tennessee Titans are in the transition process in the wide receiving department as they send their star wideout DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs in a trade.

The Titans are scheduled to receive a fifth rounder in exchange for Hopkins but there is a possibility that the team may have that in the fourth round instead.

The Titans’ fourth-round pick is contingent around Chiefs’ snaps usage. Notably, Hopkins should be on the field for the remaining 60% of snaps and the Chiefs should reach the Super Bowl where they have succeeded four times out of five seasons the past years.

Besides, the Titans also incurred the expense of handing over a $2.5 million signing bonus paid to Hopkins to seal the head. Therefore, the Titans seem to help acquire a draft pick and at the same time give Hopkins the opportunity to fight for the championship for the first time of his career. The last podium where Hopkins was surrounded by the Super bowl compete’s ambiance was with the Houston Texans, within the last year where they lost to the Chiefs who came back from an early quarter deficit of 24-0 in the AFC Divisional Round.

Trade deals

According to league sources, the Titans and Chiefs are nearing a deal that would transport wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City.

Sources indicate that the Titans will receive a fifth-round pick in 2025 which would slide to the fourth round if the Chiefs make it to the Super Bowl and the aforementioned player plays at least 60 per cent of game time with the Kansas City team. Sources also indicate that Tennessee will also cover around $2.5 million of the $8 million salary that remains due to this Ohio native this year. It is reported that this transaction should be completed at the mid-week.

Head coach Andy Reid chose to dismiss the trade rumor on Wednesday before practice and said only that general manager Brett Veach was ‘dealing with all of that.’ After being asked about the trade, Reid responded, lips pursed: ‘I know nothing.’

The Chiefs have needed to fill a void at wide receiver since Week 4 when Rashee Rice injured his right knee and underwent surgery that ended his season. The team had already lost Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a shoulder injury in the preseason and Juju Smith-Schuster sustained a hamstring injury last week and is already out for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
