After a 45-point outburst against TCU, the Buffaloes were held scoreless for much of the second quarter. Fortunately, Deion Sanders’ team, Nebraska, remained scoreless for even longer. Ultimately, it was the Cornhuskers’ mistakes that opened the door for Colorado.
Nebraska had a disappointing performance, committing four turnovers, missed one field goal and committed six penalties. Nebraska QB Jeff Sims fumbled two snaps in the first half, the latter of which set up a Colorado field goal, and a brutal interception by Sims set up a Buffalo touchdown that opened the floodgates.
Colorado’s offense looked more comfortable and organized in the second half, scoring its way to three more touchdowns and turning what started as a defensive battle into a lopsided affair.
