Cody Bellinger: Trade Details| MVP| Stats

In an interview with reporters, Hoyer said, “We’re not finished doing everything that we have to.” And, soon enough, he was left with no choice but to elaborate on his statement.

Hoyer just knew that trading some of the Chicago’s surplus outfielders was only a matter of time after their latest signing of three-time All-Star Kyle Tucker, and low and behold the Cubs traded Cody Bellinger –who is a former National League MVP- and cash, to the New York Yankees in exchange for right-hander Cody Poteet.

The Cubs made this trade alongside two other trades including their second one that involved trading away their catcher Matt Thaiss who was later sold to the White Sox. The catching position was already being monopolized by Carson Kelly who was added on a two-year deal, and so Chicago was forced to sell off Thaiss just months after they acquired him from the angels who parted with him for cash.

MVP

The Juan Soto void left at the New York Yankees has been filled – or to put it differently, the Yankees now have a solid replacement for one of their star performers.

As previously reported, the team traded with the Chicago Cubs for Cody Bellinger, who in 2019 was voted Most Valuable Player in the National League. Losing streaks take place in the sport which is why the team is forced to hope their champions return to their winning ways. The Cubs will also pay the Yankees an additional $5 million to the agreement and in exchange, they will get right-hander Cody Poteet.

Bellinger’s contract is reported to cover $2.5 million in his 2025 salary and also $2.5 million in his 2026 that should turn out to be a buyout instead of him opting in. Supposedly, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale claimed Bellinger informed that h e’s going to start playing for the New York Yankees at centerfield with Aaron Judge switching to right field for the 2024 season.
