Michael William Krzyzewski (nicknamed “Coach K”; born February 13, 1947) is an American former college basketball coach. He served as head coach at Duke University from 1980 to 2022, during which he led the Blue Devils to five national titles, 13 Final Four, 15 ACC Tournament Championships, and 13 ACC regular season titles. Among men’s college basketball coaches, only UCLA’s John Wooden has won more NCAA championships, with a total of ten. Krzyzewski is widely regarded as one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time.

After unc game
North Carolina played the final villain again in the Final Four on Saturday at the Caesars Superdome before a crowd of 70,602, surprise archery and No. 2 Seed Duke, 81-77.
Caleb Love’s dagger three-pointer with 28 seconds left, followed by a free throw, gave the No. 8 seeded Tar Heels a four-point lead and helped them overcome the upset. Trevor Kielce had 10.4 seconds left in the free throw and went 79–77 before Love (28 points) scored a pair of free throws to ensure the win.
UNC (29-9) entered Monday’s national championships (9:20 p.m. ET, TBS) to meet Kansas, ending Mike Krzyzewski’s chance to win a career and sixth title. He had previously spoiled Coach K’s final home game on 5 March at the Cameron Indoor Stadium. Krzyzewski is now officially retired and assistant John Scherer is Duke’s new head coach.

March 18, 1980 – Mike Krzyzewski is introduced as Duke’s head basketball coach.
November 29, 1980 – Krzyzewski wins his first game as coach of Duke, 67-49 over Stetson.
January 21, 1981 – A 56-47 victory at NC State gives Krzyzewski his first win against an ACC competition. Jean Banks plays 40 minutes for Duke, scoring a game-high 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting.
February 15, 1984 – The Dukes win their first game as a ranked team under coach Kay, 80–69 over Stetson, and have their first 20-win season since 1980. David Henderson scored 18 points, made all six field-goal attempts and all six foul shots.
March 10, 1984 – A 77–75 victory over North Carolina, aided by four David Henderson free throws, gives Krzyzewski his first win over a top-ranked team and his first visit to an ACC tournament title game.
February 27, 1985 – Duke defeats Clemson, 90–73 at Durham, giving Krzyzewski his first winning season in the ACC (8–6). Johnny Dawkins scored 19 points, making 10 of his 8 field goal attempts and all three of his foul shots.
March 15, 1985 – A 75-62 victory over Pepperdine gives Krzyzewski his first win at the NCAA Tournament. David Henderson scored 22 points and Johnny Dawkins scored 21 points.
February 26, 1986 – Playing as the No. 1 team for the first time under Krzyzewski, Duke beat Clemson, 77–69, to set the school record for most wins in a season (28). Johnny Dawkins scored 27 points on 16 out of 11 shots.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski walked out of his final postgame news conference and jumped in the back of a golf cart with his wife, Mickey.
Coach K would not cut the nets in his last season; There is no perfect end to his 42-year career, no sixth national title. Instead, Krzyzewski provided a moment of levitation for media members gathered around him in a Superdome tunnel.
“Maybe you can super-impose the sunset,” quipped Krzyzewski just before the golf cart sped away, the 75-year-old riding into retirement.
Krzyzewski’s behavior turned two shades Saturday night. In one, he was grateful and grateful for Duke’s thrilling Final Four run that ended in an 81–77 loss to North Carolina. There was no flow of emotion about coaching his last college basketball game.
He said, ‘I am not thinking about my career right now.
