San Francisco 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey is likely to be ruled out of the upcoming matches due to a PCL injury which he incurred during the game against the Buffalo Bills. Today we will discuss about Christian Mccaffrey: Injury update| What happened to.
Christian Mccaffrey: Injury update| What happened to
Christian Jackson McCaffrey, or as most folks would call him, CMC (born June 7, 1996) is a running back for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played in College for the Stanford Cardinal and was picked by the Carolina Panthers as the eighth overall in the NFL 2017 Draft. McCaffrey was voted the AP College Football Player of the Year in 2015 as a Forbes sophomore college student as well as being a Heisman Trophy finalist. McCaffrey has one college record to his name: the most all-purpose yards in the season with a total of 3864 yards.
Injury update
Christian McCaffrey’s 2024 season’s prospects are already looking grim. He was forced to exit his team’s Sunday Night Football loss to the Bills — a game in which he managed to rack up some good stats, seven rushes for 53 yards within the early quarters — with complaints about pain in his PCL ligament injury later confirmed by head coach Kyle Shanahan. He further stated that this injury is “possibly” the one to end his season.
Another factor as to why McCaffrey is one of the few backs over 20 carries this late is because he has already witnessed tendonitis developing on both of his Achilles and missed the first 8 games of this season. On top of that all of 49ers’ key skill positions on offense have missed time on the IR — Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk (from IR), Brock Purdy, George Kittle and McCaffrey, and recently all-pro tackle Trent Williams as well as major defensive stars were out. It is going to take a minor miracle for the 49ers now as they sit at 5-7 and 1-3 in the NFC west to qualify for the playoffs as they have been to the last three NFC championship games.
What happened to
Christian McCaffrey, a running back for the San Francisco 49ers, appears to have suffered damage to the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Sunday night as head coach Kyle Shanahan fears this could be the end of McCaffrey’s season.
“Right now, there is a chance [it is season-ending],” Shanahan stated after the match vs Buffalo Bills which ended San Francisco 10–35. “I think PCL is normally a couple weeks, but I’m not certain at this point.”
McCaffrey will go for testing on Monday which will assess the severity of the injury and whether he would be eligible for any of the remaining five games.
Up until the first quarter and five minutes before the game against the Bills, it seemed that McCaffrey was finally able to have the breakout game he had been searching for since returning from the Achilles tear.
