Boxing
Chad Johnson’s boxing debut was closed to a surprisingly impressive performance by the middle of the fourth round when a massive right hook from Brian Maxwell dropped him to the canvas.
Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium will be the main attraction emanating from Ochocinco’s visit to the ring.
Johnson, 43, can be proud to rise from the punch as he finished a four-round showdown against a professional combat fighter at Maxwell.
“My life has always been about taking chances and doing crazy things – it was on my bucket list,” Johnson said. “It was a message to everyone out there: Don’t be afraid to take risks. Don’t be afraid to fail. It’s okay.”
The fight went away and there was no official decision, so no winner was declared.
Maxwell, 33, claimed victory after the fight, saying, “Ask the world who Brian Maxwell is now. Brian Maxwell is here. Thank you, Chad. It was an honor to fight my idol.”
Maxwell is currently a bare-knuckle fighter with a 0-3 record with two losses by knockout. He was also 0-1 in standard boxing fights and 2-3 in MMA fights.
The Johnson-Maxwell Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul was the first fight on the main card, and it was surprisingly entertaining for an exhibition bout.
