Next Fight

Tim Tszyu is determined to maintain an active schedule in 2023 and has confirmed his intention to defend his WBO interim super welterweight title against Carlos Ocampo on June 18. The fight will be held on the Gold Coast.

Earlier this year, Tszyu had the opportunity to face Jermell Charlo for the undisputed championship at 154 pounds. Unfortunately, the bout was canceled when Charlo suffered a broken left hand during his training camp. Despite the setback, Tszyu decided not to wait for Charlo’s recovery and instead chose to fight Tony Harrison, a former WBC titlist, in his home country. Tszyu emerged victorious in that match with a ninth-round knockout.

Given that Charlo is still in the process of healing from his injury, Tszyu has now sought another opponent. He ultimately settled on Carlos Ocampo (34-2, 22 KO) and finalized the fight, which will take place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Tim Tszyu has accused Jermell Charlo, a popular American boxer, of avoiding a match with him and spending his time partying in Las Vegas. Australian boxing legend Jeff Fenech agrees that Charlo has been intimidated by Tszyu’s unbeaten record. Despite having a highly anticipated fight with Charlo on the horizon, Tszyu is now preparing to face Mexican boxer Carlos Ocampo on Sunday, June 18. Tszyu emphasized the significance of this upcoming match, considering it the toughest challenge of his career. He also criticized Charlo for continuously delaying their much-anticipated championship bout, which has already been postponed for four months and counting.
