Cam McCarthy was found unconscious and died at a home south of Perth on Thursday afternoon. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of McCarthy, who played 70 games for the Dockers and Giants.

Fremantle chief executive Simon Garlick said his death was “tragic”, and expressed the club’s condolences to McCarthy’s family, friends and teammates.

“Cam was a kind and easy-going guy at the club, and he was someone who had a knack for making people smile and laugh. His talent was undeniable and he loved his footy.”
