His father, Jerry Rice, is an NFL Hall-of-Famer who played 20 seasons with the 49ers, Raiders, Seahawks and Broncos and currently holds the all-time NFL records for career receptions (1,549), receiving yards (22,895) and total touchdowns (208). He has two older siblings.

Son

In the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, Rice, the son of NFL Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, showcased his potential with six catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns and an 81-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Transfer

Rice began his career at Colorado before transferring to USC immediately following the 2021 season. He told 247Sports later in the offseason that he was open to returning to Boulder as long as Lincoln Riley came up with an offer.

“I get some other calls, but as soon as you hear Lincoln’s call, you just have to go. Especially with USC and its big name. You have to come. You have to come. Man, it was quick. I Was shocked,” Rice said.

USC hired Riley in part because he could attract talent, and it immediately benefited when Rice joined the mix. Williams transferred to USC two weeks after Rice, which was expected since he entered the portal, and Addison joined the receiver room in May.

At the time, Colorado was not the destination it is now. The Buffaloes went 4-8 under Carl Dorrell in 2021, so while Rice got the opportunity to see playing time at USC, it was hard for Colorado to compete with the Trojans’ allure.

Rice initially committed to Colorado during Mel Tucker’s first and only season with the Buffaloes, but he was coached by Dorrell for two seasons after Tucker became Michigan State’s coach.

Mother

Jakarta Edwards gave birth to Brandon Rice while in a relationship with famous wide receiver Jerry Rice in the early 2000s.

40 time

Less than two months into the Lincoln Riley era at USC, everything is turning to gold. The Trojans have brought a lot of talent to Los Angeles since Riley’s arrival and now former Colorado wide receiver Brandon Rice is set to join them.

Rice, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, is larger than his father in size and faster than his father in terms of 40-yard dash speed. He is a weapon in both the passing game and on special teams and will be an immediate impact player at USC.

Although he finished second to Brady Russell for the team lead in catches and touchdowns with the Buffaloes last season, he was not used as much as he deserved. In two years with Colorado, Rice caught 27 balls for 419 yards and five touchdowns.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Brandon is an inch taller and five pounds heavier than Jerry was during his playing days. Additionally, he has been recorded with an under 4.7-second 40-yard dash, while his father ran a 4.71.
