It’s no surprise to Boyd Cordner that his dream come true on the rugby league field over the past 18 months – two premierships, two Origin series wins, plus the Kangaroos captaincy – has coincided with him falling in love.

On Friday night Cordner became the first New South Welshman to lead his club, state and country to victory in a calendar year, finally happy to open up about his budding romance with TV morning-show producer Gemma Barge.

The 27-year-old initially asked The Sun-Herald to stop writing the story during grand final week because he feared it would spoil the Roosters’ shot at back-to-back titles.

“You’re right, Jem has been my lucky charm,” Cordner said with a nervous smile. “I’ve really enjoyed my time with her. She’s a strong woman and that’s what I needed in my life.”

“She’s easy-going, she supports me no matter what, I don’t talk to her much about football, but if I ever need to express my anger she’s there. It is actually very easy.”

Boyd Cordner’s net worth or net income is estimated to be $1 million – $10 million dollars.

While Benji Marshall, Luke Lewis and many other players are already stars of Channel Nine and Fox Sports respectively.

However, according to the wonderful world of Wikipedia, it seems as if Roosters and NSW Blues captain Boyd Cordner has already overtaken them all.
