The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon race organized by several cities in greater Boston in eastern Massachusetts, United States. 2021 Winner
In-person 2021 Boston Marathon participants will have the opportunity to purchase registration insurance; Additional details will be shared before registration in April. Registration insurance will not be offered for the virtual 125th Boston Marathon.
Individuals participating in races can be expected to produce two negative COVID-19 tests before Monday, October 11, regardless of vaccination status. Official entrants will receive more information on test timelines and requirements in the coming months.
All participants are expected to follow federal and state travel guidelines, which include any and all pre-travel testing requirements and quarantine requirements at the time of the 125th Boston Marathon.

The 125th Boston Marathon took two and a half years to build. Its champion, however, needed just over two hours to cross the finish line.
Kenyan runners Benson Kipruto and Diana Chemtai Kipyogi won the men’s and women’s fields respectively. Kipruto finished in 2:09:51 and Kipyogi in 2:24:45, her eighth Kenyan sweep since 2000.
Two Swiss athletes won the men’s and women’s wheelchair divisions. Marcel Haug won his fifth event – after taking a wrong turn and missing his personal best by seconds – in 1:18:11. Manuela Shar held the early lead to finish in 1:35:21 and claimed victory for the third time.
