Blake Grupe: Injury, Tackle, Size, Age, Height, Wife and Salary

Blake Grupe is an American football placekicker who has played in the NFL for teams including the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts. Known for his accuracy and ability to convert long field goals, Grupe has also attracted attention for his unusual involvement in a special-teams tackle that resulted in an injury during the 2026 season.

Born on November 5, 1998, Grupe is 27 years old as of October 2026. He stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 156 pounds. His professional career has included several team changes, and his latest move brought him to the Los Angeles Rams.

Here is everything to know about Blake Grupe’s injury, tackling ability, physical measurements, personal life, and salary.

Who Is Blake Grupe?

Blake Robert Grupe was born in Sedalia, Missouri, United States. He attended Smith-Cotton High School, where he participated in football, soccer, and baseball. His experience in multiple sports helped him develop the coordination and kicking technique needed to pursue a professional football career.

Grupe continued his football journey at Arkansas State University before transferring to the University of Notre Dame in 2022. After going undrafted in 2023, he signed with the New Orleans Saints as a free agent.

He quickly earned a starting role and became an important part of the Saints’ special-teams unit. In his rookie season, he scored 130 points, making 30 of 37 field-goal attempts and all 40 extra-point attempts.

Blake Grupe Injury Update: What Happened to Him?

Blake Grupe suffered a knee injury on October 18, 2026, during the Los Angeles Rams’ game against the Arizona Cardinals. The injury occurred in his first game with the Rams, just days after the team signed him to replace Harrison Mevis.

According to reports, Grupe attempted to stop Cardinals returner Devin Duvernay during a kickoff return of approximately 40 yards. He brought Duvernay down near midfield but appeared to injure his knee during the tackle.

Grupe was evaluated by medical staff and taken to the locker room. The Rams initially listed him as doubtful to return before ruling him out for the remainder of the game. He had already made a 44-yard field goal earlier in the contest.

As of October 19, 2026, the reports confirm the knee injury and his exit from the game. A definitive diagnosis, severity assessment, and return timeline have not been established in the information available.

Why Did Blake Grupe Make a Tackle?

Although Grupe is a placekicker, kickers sometimes become involved in tackles when the opposing team returns a kickoff. They are generally among the last players able to stop a returner who breaks through the coverage unit.

During the game against Arizona, Grupe attempted to prevent Duvernay from advancing farther downfield. The play demonstrated the physical risks that special-teams players can face, even when tackling is not their primary responsibility.

His involvement in the tackle became particularly significant because the resulting injury left the Rams without their newly signed kicker for the rest of the game.

How Tall Is Blake Grupe? Height and Size

Blake Grupe is listed at 5 feet 7 inches tall and approximately 156 pounds. These measurements make him shorter and lighter than many NFL players, particularly offensive and defensive linemen.

However, a placekicker’s effectiveness depends primarily on kicking technique, accuracy, leg strength, consistency, and mental composure. Grupe has demonstrated that his physical size does not prevent him from competing at the highest level of professional football.

Blake Grupe was born on November 5, 1998, in Sedalia, Missouri.

• Age: 27 as of October 19, 2026
