What are the ATP Cup Standings?
The ATP Cup Standings is a provisional entry list for the ATP Cup, ordered by the FedEx ATP Ranking (or Protected Ranking) of the country’s highest ranked singles player. The ATP Cup standings also show which players from each country would qualify for a place in their country’s team, subject to player entry rules.

How many players will be in each team?
Competing teams will have a maximum of five players – three singles will be selected based on the FedEx ATP rankings, with fourth and fifth place being decided by the best (singles or doubles) rankings. Teams with less than five players will have their third and fourth (if applicable) player(s) decided by their best (singles or doubles) rankings.

Are points and prize money available?
The 2022 ATP Cup will carry a prize money of US$10 million and a maximum of 750 FedEx ATP Ranking points in singles and 250 points in doubles.

What is the format?
There will be two singles matches and one doubles match in each tie. The country winning two matches will win the tie. Single best-of-three tie-breaks will be set. Doubles will feature no-ed scoring and match tie-breaks in exchange for the third set.

What is the order of play?
Each day has a day session and an evening session. The number 2 player will play first in each tie, followed by the number 1 player, followed by doubles. All doubles matches shall be played, even if a tie is decided after two singles matches, except if the final is decided after two singles matches. In that event, doubles would not be played.

The teams participating in the Cup are determined by their single ranking of the best player. A week after the US Open, 18 teams are announced based on the best player singles rankings. For a country to qualify, it must have at least three ATP-ranked players, and two of them will be singles-ranked. The next six teams are announced as of the week of the ATP Finals. If the host does not qualify by the first September deadline, he will be awarded a wild card, leaving only five places for the November deadline. [10]

The format consisted of 24 teams divided into six groups of four teams each. The teams will face two singles matches and one doubles match. A match between the No. 2 of each team will open a tie, then the No. 1 of each team and the tie ends after a doubles match. Whether there is a tie or not, a doubles match will be played. The winner of each group will advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament with the best second-place finishers for three knock-out rounds until a champion team is crowned.

2021 winner

It was originally scheduled to take place from 1 to 10 January 2021 with 24 teams in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney, but was changed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a COVID-19 case at a tournament quarantine hotel, all matches scheduled for February 4 were suspended.

Team Serbia was the defending champion, but was eliminated in the group stage. Team Russia won the tournament by defeating Italy 2–0 in the final.

2022 Schedule

Home favorites Australia face a tough start to their 2022 ATP Cup campaign when they take on Italy’s double top 10 stars Matteo Berrettini and Janic Sinner in their opening match of the tournament on Sunday evening.

James Duckworth will open Sunday evening’s card against World No 10 Sinner at the Ken Roswell Arena, while Alex de Minaur will look to beat powerhouse World No 7 Berrettini in No. 1 singles, which follows.

On the tournament’s opening day, top 10 stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hubert Hurkaz will battle when Greece meet Poland in a night session at the Kudos Bank Arena.

2022

The 2022 ATP Tour season is about to begin. Over the course of nine days and 27 matches, 16 nations will fight to become the ATP Cup champions. Will Italy go a step ahead of last year and win the trophy? Or will one of the remaining 15 countries take the title?

Here are five things that matter the most ahead of day one in the 2022 ATP Cup.

Top 10 Stars Meet
Greece and Poland will clash during the night session at the Kudos Bank Arena and the captains – Apostolos Tsitsipas and Marcin Matkowski – will realize the importance of a Group D tie. “I think Poland has a good team, and we have a good team and we are ready for it,” Tsitsipas admitted. Matkowski said, “Playing against Greece is tough work, but I think our team is much better than two years ago. We are more experienced and all the players are looking forward to the match. It will not be easy But we believe if we do our best we can win it.
