Ashley Roy Westwood is an English professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Premier League club Burnley. Westwood’s first club was Crewe Alexandra, where he spent his first season on loan at his hometown club Nantwich Town from the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Injury:
Burnley midfielder Ashley Westwood suffered a horror injury against West Ham which left opponent Nikola Vlasic overcome by emotion.
The injury was sustained midway through the first half at the London Stadium, after Westwood and Vlasic vied for a loose ball in the middle of the park.

The incident in question occurred 22 minutes into a top-flight encounter at the London Stadium and left those on the field visibly distressed.
Westwood, who will now be facing a long road to recovery, was forced to leave the pitch on a stretcher as Vlasic had to be consoled by players from both sides, before the two teams played out a 1-1 draw.
Burnley Injury:
The injury occurred after a 50-50 challenge with Vlasic on 22 minutes of the Premier League match, which left the Burnley man in agony and signalling to the bench.
He was treated for 10 minutes on the pitch by the medical staff before being stretchered off to a standing ovation by both sets of fans at the London Stadium.
The former Aston Villa man stayed down and gestured towards the bench after suffering what looked like a serious ankle injury, and Vlasic needed to be consoled by teammates as he walked away from the incident.
