Sharks forward Andrew Fifitta remains in hospital after being treated for a serious throat injury sustained during his team’s loss to Newcastle on Sunday.

According to reports he experienced difficulty breathing and was treated by paramedics at Radcliffe’s Moreton Daly Stadium, when he was first taken to the Cronula dressing room to receive treatment from the club’s medical team.

Sharks prop Andrew Fifita has been admitted to intensive care and unconscious due to a throat injury he lost to Newcastle at Radcliffe on Sunday.

Fifita is understood to be in a stable condition after suffering a “significant laryngeal injury” and experiencing difficulty breathing the entire time.

Persistent swelling in his throat has caused doctors to swoon the 32-year-old former international, who is due to spend several days at the Royal Brisbane Hospital with his partner Nikki.
