Contract
If Miller’s camp continues to chase an $8 million US annual salary using points-per-game comparisons over the past three seasons, will the Canucks’ management make as-we-sign-to-dynamic changes? The Canucks’ leading scorer had better numbers than Mika Zibnejad and Thomas Hertle. Miller had 217 regular-season points, while Zibnejad had 206 and Hertl had 143. Miller was 15th in points per game this season with 1.24, while Zibnejad was 51st on 1.00 and Hertl was 115th on 0.78.
Jibenejad, 29, agreed to an eight-year, $68 million US deal with the New York Rangers on October 10, 2021 – a giant leap from the end of the $5.35 million cap hit. And Hurtle, 28, signed an eight-year, $65.1 million extension with the San Jose Sharks on March 16. His expiry cap hit this season was $5.625 million.
