Week 4

Alvin Kamara: Week 4| Will play week 4| Out| Backup

Alvin Kamara has been battling a rib injury for four weeks. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.
Kamara’s rib injury has plagued this rib injury all season so far, and it forced him to sit out for the second week.

A playmaker who has been one of the league’s most prolific pass catchers, this season has just five receptions through three games. On the field, Kamara made a season-high 15 carries for 61 yards against Carolina last week. He could see more passes coming his way this week. Andy Dalton is starting in place of an injured Jameis Winston, and is expected to be more lenient with a check down to run back.

If Kamra can’t play, Mark Ingram takes over in the backfield. In Week 2, he took 10 carries for 58 yards and two catches for three yards and kept Kamara on the sidelines.

Will play week 4

Alvin Kamara: Week 4| Will play week 4| Out| Backup

The New Orleans Saints announced Week 4 Inactives and Alvin Kamara is officially Inactive for their matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Kamara was listed as a suspect this week due to a rib injury. He was limited in practice throughout the week and tested an injury during the warmup and is unable to hit the ground today.

Kamara is not in for the season he was hoping for. He has made 24 carries for 100 yards through two matches this season. Kamara has been hit 11 times and has five receptions for 19 extra yards. He’s usually a running back who dominates the ground and in the receiving game, but it’s not completely out yet. Backup quarterback Andy Dalton will be the starter on Sunday as Jameis Winston has been ruled out of the game.

With Kamara missing the game, it will be Mark Ingram and Latvius Murray who will be the primary running backs in the offense. Ingram will probably be the starter watcher as he usually serves as Kamra’s backup. Murray was dropped from the practice squad on Saturday, but he should still see some performances. I think Ingram deserves to play dart throw flex with the expected workload, but I’ll leave Murray on the bench.

Out

According to NFL Network’s Stacy Dales, head coach Dennis Allen confirmed that Kamara would be dropping out for a Saints game in London. Kamra was then declared among the inactive people of New Orleans.

On Saturday afternoon, ESPN’s Field Yates reported that the Saints had dropped RB Latvius Murray from the practice team for Sunday’s game. This New Orleans ruling was a precursor to Week 4 for Kamara

Can Fantasy Managers Trust Mark Ingram With Kamara?
Along with Kamara, Mark Ingram should be the starting RB for the Saints. When Kamra missed Week 2 she saw most of the touches, but didn’t completely dominate the backfield. However, we should see this week touching on both Murray and D’Ewen Washington.

Backup

If Kamra cannot play, his direct backup is currently Mark Ingram, who is also suffering from an injury. Ingram was listed with an ankle injury on Wednesday and Thursday and was rehearsing on Friday. Dwayne Washington and Tony Jones Jr. are behind Ingram. They will see some work as the team tries to run on the Buccaneers.

The team signed former Saints running back Latvian Murray to the practice squad this week, but has not been upgraded for this week’s matchup. Murray was with the team in 2019 and 2020 and played a total of 31 games, including 1,293 yards for 292 runs and nine touchdown attempts on the ground.
