He was drafted in the 2007 NBA Draft as the third overall pick. Atlanta Hawks, a team in which he played for nine seasons before signing as a free agent with the Celtics in the 2016 off-season. After playing three seasons with the Celtics, he signed with the 76ers in the 2019 off-season and played one season with the team before being traded to the Thunder in the 2020 off-season. Prior to the 2021 season, Horford was traded to the Celtics in exchange for Kemba Walker and a first-round pick.
