Why was detained
Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill was handcuffed and placed face down on a road outside the team’s stadium after being stopped for speeding and reckless driving before the Dolphins’ first game of the season on Sunday morning. An incident that stunned the star wide receiver and resulted in a police officer being placed on administrative leave.
The officer, who was not identified, was one of at least three involved in taking Hill into custody. Some fans saw Hill in handcuffs and took video of him leaving the game, and it quickly went viral on social media.
Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie V. Daniels said she has launched an internal affairs investigation.
Told after the game that the official had been placed on leave pending the results of the investigation, Hill said: “That tells you everything you need to know.”
