What happened to
Just 24 hours away from announcing the NSW Blues squad, Sharks star Nicho Hines was left “dusted” and succumbed to a calf injury against the Panthers.
Midway through Penrith’s attack in the first half, the halfback took an ugly knee strike to the head and was seen feeling its effects in back play.
Hines was then taken off the field for a head injury evaluation by an independent physician and was deemed to be showing signs of a category two concussion.
Michael Ennis admitted there was some concern for Hines after he left the field.
“He accidentally hit Isiah Yeo’s knee on the way down,” Ennis said.
“He appeared to have a bit of dust on his legs and the medical staff wasted no time in carrying the No. 7 off the field.”
State of origin
Hines grew up on the Central Coast of New South Wales and was educated at Brisbane Water Secondary College, Central Coast. He played his junior rugby league for the Umina Beach Bunnies and Woy Woy Roosters, before signing with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.
