Warner was not recruited out of high school, choosing Temple instead over offers from schools such as Colorado State, Hawaii, UConn and Marshall. There will inevitably be parallels to his father’s story, as Kurt Warner played college football at Northern Iowa before famously dominating Arena Football and earning a shot in the NFL.

Warner, who was in attendance to watch his son make his debut with the Buccaneers, reflected on the strange coincidence on social media.

“Last SB I played was in the Buccaneers stadium vs the Steelers… Today my son plays his first game for the Bucs vs the Steelers in the same stadium!!! You can’t talk like that.
