Son of Travis and Casey Bagent. His father, Travis, played baseball for the Rams and is a 1999 graduate. His mother, Casey, is a 2002 Shepherd graduate. She majored in sports marketing.

Tyson Bagent performed so well in training camp and the preseason that he had Bears co-director of player personnel Jeff King, scout Tom Bradway and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy in his corner, as well as a lot of Bears fans.
Ultimately he also had the eyes of Ryan Poles, assistant GM Ian Cunningham and coach Matt Eberflus, and P.J. Walker could not be favored to be a backup just because he was a veteran.
