Watson reimagines his true freshman season. As a redshirt freshman, he caught nine passes for 165 yards as the Bison won the 2018 FCS National Championship. As a redshirt sophomore, Watson caught 34 passes for 732 yards and six touchdowns and was named to the Second Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC).
He took 19 catches for 442 yards and a touchdown and was named first-team All-MVFC in his redshirt junior season, which was shortened and played in early 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He repeated as a first-team All-MVFC selection in his redshirt senior season after catching 43 passes for 801 yards and seven touchdowns. Watson also played in the 2022 Senior Bowl.
Draft round
Watson brings great height and shape to the receiver position that allows him to play outside, but he also has experience from the slot and even the backfield. Watson is a straight-line runner with build-up speed that can take over the top of the defense when given runway. While he has only average lateral speed due to his size, he still has the ability to build yards after catch due to his balance and power of play.
Their balance and body control is also visible from the way they walk. Watson shines with her routes, consistently reaching the proper depth for the ongoing concept and not being cheesy and complicating the drama. However, he can loosen up a bit when breaking routes and will have to continue to refine. He has to continue to learn to use his shape and be more consistent with his turns when released against press coverage. As such he can be caught while playing high and exposing his chest on release and while breaking on routes, which more physical corners will take advantage of.

There’s genuine NFL talent, from the crowd of potential first-rounders through the crowded Day 2 crowd, all the way to the final pick of the class. In such a competitive and crowded environment, it can be difficult to stand out. This is especially true when you play your football outside the glare of Division I.
However, Watson has no problem standing out in the crowd. By playing in one of the most successful college football events at the FCS level, he has a competitive advantage over other potential NFL draft prospects at that level. As Watson’s scouting report shows, however, he is much more than a small school name.
