During his sophomore season and without playing a single game there he briefly attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He joined the United States Football League the following season and signed with the New Orleans Breakers in 1984. He played for the Breakers for two seasons before a knee injury forced him to leave the sport. He returned to professional football five years later in 1990, joining the Los Angeles Rams, where he played 15 games over two seasons before being waived before the 1992 season.
