Fernando Gabriel Tatis Medina Jr., nicknamed “El Niño”, is a Dominican professional baseball shortstop and outfielder who plays for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball. He is the son of former MLB player Fernando Tatís Sr, notable for being the only MLB player to ever hit two grand slams in the same inning.

Accident:

San Diego Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. suffered a fractured wrist at some point during the offseason and could be out up to three months, GM A.J. Preller told reporters on Monday, including The Athletic’s Dennis Lin. Surgery may be required. The three-month timeline would put Tatis on track to return in the middle of June.

“Nothing crazy, I thought it was something we could work through,” Tatis told reporters, including MLB.com’s AJ Cassavell, about the injury. 

Motorcycle:

The San Diego Padres received some bad news on superstar shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr, who will miss about three months with a wrist injury. Tatis, who fractured his wrist during the offseason, was unable to be tended to by the Padres’ team officials, who were forbidden from having contact with players during the MLB lockout.

Some interesting details emerged on the cause of the injury when the Padres star told reporters that he had sustained a fall while riding his motorcycle during the offseason. Tatis was asked about the motorcycle accident and offered a very concerning answer, as reported by Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

Girlfriend:

Fernando Tatis Jr is currently single and does not have a girlfriend or a wife.

He has not been married yet.

At the age of 22, Fernando is still young, and it seems like the baseballer is focused more on his career as a player rather than love. It does not seem like Tatis will be settling with a significant other any time soon.

Injury:

Tatis apparently suffered the injury early in the offseason and felt it when he began preparing for spring training, Preller said.

“I didn’t feel that much at the time,” Tatis said Monday. “It felt like when you jam your wrist when you slide into second base. I was swinging my axe in my ranch. I was feeling good and I feel like it caught us by surprise.”

Reports surfaced in December that Tatis suffered hand and knee scrapes in a motorcycle accident in the Dominican Republic.
