Wisconsin football
Wisconsin recruiting analyst John McNamara has reported that Caleb Williams informed Wisconsin head coach Paul Crist that he would not be relocating to Wisconsin, which is great news for USC football fans.
I don’t think any of us really felt threatened by the idea of Williams choosing Wisconsin over USC, but to be fair, there was a possibility. It was reported that he was seriously considering Badger, and now that he isn’t, it seems that the chances of him reaching the Trojan are even greater.
Williams has said in the past that he would also run for new USC football head coach Lincoln Riley, and he certainly played at OU last year under Riley. An average of 9.1 yards per pass effort, the No. 1 transfer in the country scored a total of 27 touchdowns despite not being a starter until the second half of the season. He already flourishes in this offense, and one of his favorite Oklahoma goals in Mario Williams has already made the move.
Transfer
Former Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams announced his transfer destination on Tuesday. Unsurprisingly, the former five-star freshman who took the early Sooners job from Spencer Rattler is following Lincoln Riley to USC.
Williams and USC both made the news official on Tuesday, tweeting the former completing an announcement with a USC photo shoot and cameos from Trojan fans Snoop Dogg and Will Ferrell.
Williams’ decision to enter the transfer portal was a decision many had expected from the outset, though Wisconsin made a surprisingly late bid to secure a second-year quarterback. Eventually, he decided to move to Los Angeles instead of Madison.
USC
Star quarterback Caleb Williams is transferring to USC, the former Oklahoma quarterback announced Tuesday.
The move reunites Williams with first-year USC head coach Lincoln Riley, for whom Williams played during his true new year of success with the Sooners in 2021.
“I wanted to go somewhere, I thought I’d get the best development both on and off the field,” Williams told ESPN, “Knowing coach Riley and being familiar with his offense certainly played a part in my selection, As well as already know some of the people on the team.”
