Stats
On March 29, 2013, Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CS&E), owners of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Vancouver Canucks, was announced as purchasing the American Hockey League (AHL) franchise playing as the Peoria Rivermen and was approved by the league on April 18.
After purchasing the franchise, CS&E intended to have the franchise located in a market close to Vancouver with their initial preference as Abbotsford, British Columbia, which was home to the Calgary Flames’ AHL farm club, the Abbotsford Heat. The Heat had been rumored to relocate to Utica, New York, at the time. Negotiations between the Canucks and Abbotsford broke down by April 22 and the Heat remained in the city.

News
The Abbotsford Canucks seem to like overtime, and the loud and raucous (50 per cent capacity) crowd on Friday night (Oct. 22) at the Abbotsford Centre didn’t seem to mind the free hockey.
Forward Justin Bailey used his major league speed to find open ice during the three-on-three extra frame, fired the puck at the net and defenceman Madison Bowey slammed it home to give the Canucks the 3-2 win over the Henderson Silver Knights in their Abbotsford debut.
The night had a unique energy from the start, as the Sardis Drumline began the pregame festivities, followed by a land acknowledgement and welcome from Chief Dalton Silver of the Sumas First Nation.

The $140 home, women’s and youth jerseys are all listed as sold out on the website. A phone call to the Canucks team store for more information revealed that demand for the green jersey was big following the team’s official launch on July 14.
