Wife
Now, Record Sport is suggesting that Zidane is attracted by the opportunity to take over at Old Trafford, where he will be reunited with two former Real Madrid players in Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafael Varane, as well as regular Los Blancos. Paul will target Pogba.
not a straight deal
While United are reportedly hoping that Zidane’s relationships with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Varane will lead him to look more favorably at the club, it is not an easy sell.
It has been reported that Véronique Zidane, the coach’s wife, has not been sold on the idea of staying in Manchester. Instead she wanted to take a long break from coaching Zidane and find work elsewhere.
other options
Antonio Conte was another candidate being considered for the job, but Manchester United’s recent defeat to Tottenham saw Spurs change coaches and hire the Italian instead.
How old is
34 years old, Zidane played for many famous football clubs such as Juventus of Italy and Real Madrid of Spain. He led France to win the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the 2000 European Football Championship. In 2002 he also won the UEFA Champions League for Real Madrid, the ninth championship for Real Madrid. Zidane was voted FIFA World Player of the Year three times. He led France to the 2006 World Cup final and was arguably the best player in the tournament. He was called one of the greatest players of his generation and of all time.
In 2006, Zidane announced that he would retire after the World Cup. Zidane was famous for beheading Marco Materazzi in the 110th minute of extra time in the 2006 FIFA World Cup final and was sent off with a red card. France eventually lost 5–3 to Italy on penalties and were placed second. The incident was widely known as the Zidane headbutt. There is also a statue of it in Doha, Qatar.
News
Manchester United are stuck with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but could suffer a sixth Premier League managerial casualty this season if results do not improve in the next few games.
United suffered back-to-back defeats at Old Trafford before the international break, as Liverpool suffered a 5-0 loss to the Reds a week before Man City embarrassed Solskjaer’s side 2-0 .
MEN Sport understand Solskjaer’s future as United manager hangs in the balance, but the club have yet to identify an obvious replacement, should he decide to make a change.
Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has emerged as one of the top candidates to replace Solskjaer at Old Trafford if United decide to make changes to the dugout.
Family
Zidane was the fifth child of Smile and Malika Zidane. His parents immigrated to France in 1953 from the Kabili region of northern Algeria. Zidane grew up in La Castellane, a crime-ridden housing development in Marseille, a port city in the south of France. Unemployment and suicide rates in La Castellane are alarmingly high. His father had a steady job as an overnight department store janitor, however.
The family had to live in cramped quarters – all seven could not sit together and eat.
As a youth, Zidane played football games at Place Tartain, the public square of La Castellane. At the age of 14 he was a ballboy during a France–Portugal European Cup playoff game at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille. At the age of 13, Zidane signed with the Cannes club team at the junior level. He made the elite squad at the age of 17; At the age of 19, Zidane scored his first goal at that level and the club president kept his promise to him – he gave Zidane a car, a red Cleo.
Zidane signed with Bordeaux in the early 1990s and his play there attracted the attention of the elite Italian team Juventus from Turin. With Zidane, Juventus won five championships in three years – including international competitions. In Turin, Zidane played for Marcelo Lippi, who later became Italy’s coach for Zidane’s win against France in the 2006 World Cup title match. Back home, however, Zidane had trouble appeasing the French media, who called him le chat noir (the black cat). He accused them of playing poorly in resultant games, such as the Champions League, which featured top club teams across Europe.
Son
The club’s injury crisis has been dominated by recent news of Real Madrid forcing the club to change their youth team to supplement numbers for training and matchday squads.
Now, Theo Zidane – the son of club boss Zinedine – has been promoted to the first team squad and, according to Marca, is involved in training sessions with the club’s stars.
