An old Twitter exchange between Pakistani cricket captain Babar Azam and Zainab Abbas has resurfaced amid the controversy over the sports journalist’s alleged “anti-India and anti-Hindu” tweet.
This new interest stems from an incident in 2018. After Babar Azam’s brilliant Test century against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Zainab Abbas light-heartedly called Babar the “son” of then coach Mickey Arthur. This comment was an obvious joke on his close relationship with Babur.
However, Babar did not consider it a mere joke. Responding to Abbas’s sarcastic comment, he reprimanded him for crossing limits with his words. “Think before you say anything and try not to cross your limits!!!” Babar had replied.
“Definitely it reflects the coach he likes as a player because of his ability and certainly all the support that Babar deserves because he is a special player. I think the interpretation went wrong because the tweet starts with praise,” wrote one user defending Zainab.
