Scared

The only comparison one should think of between Joe Namath and Zach Wilson: they both dare to be different.

When he was not playing, Namath wore a mink coat on the side.

Wilson wears a headband while he is.

And it reveals the essence of the Jets’ new franchise quarterback.

“I would definitely wear a headband, I have to wear it or else my face is sweating and I can’t see when I’m throwing the ball,” Wilson said on a Zoom call. “I think I loved the look of the headband coming out of the back of the helmet, something that set you apart and made you look different from maybe another quarterback or something. I always thought it was a good look, So I’m sure we’ll be able to figure something out.”

Maybe the look of Bill Belichick will make the baby move. Maybe it won’t. Because what was written on his headband at BYU says a lot.

“Obviously people were skeptical of our program,” Wilson said, “and the message behind it, it wasn’t an egregious statement at all, it was more, ‘You know what, we have confidence in ourselves and We are ready to play anyone no matter when,’

“People doubted the level of competition we played, and we weren’t afraid to play against anyone. It was really justified, ‘If you want to play us, play us.’ “

What Wilson has come up with out of nowhere for this championship-hungry franchise and fan base is a virtual thought. And now he must find whatever rage is inside him in order to live up to his position as the second pick of the NFL Draft.

“I would not call Dalit mentality anymore, I would still say the ability to prove something,” he said. “If you’re the second overall choice and you don’t perform and you don’t work hard it doesn’t really make sense, and so it’s all an opportunity for me.

How old is

NFL quarterbacks Zach Wilson and Tom Brady both celebrated birthdays on Tuesday, but as many on Twitter pointed out, the age difference is pretty staggering.

Brady turns 44 on Tuesday while Wilson turns 22, meaning Brady is exactly twice as old as Wilson.

It’s August 3, so everyone knows what that means…

The happy birthday is due to some special teammates: Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and New York Jets rookie Zach Wilson.

That’s right, hopefully this is a good omen for Wilson, but two potential Week 1 starters were both born on this day.

There is a slight difference though.

Brady is 44 years old, he was born in 1977, while Wilson, who is 22 years old as of today, began his journey to the NFL in 1999.

And yes, you are reading right. Brady is still twice the age of Wilson. ESPN’s Adam Schefter also makes a good point:

Eventually the two quarterbacks will get to know each other a little better. In Week 17 of the 2021 regular season, the pair will face off if everything goes according to plan.

Brady’s Books will visit MetLife Stadium in New York for a late matchup against the Jets.

Another non-quarterback birthday shout out to the pass outs: Hall of Famer and former Buffalo Bills head coach Marv Levy turns 96 on Tuesday.
