World Series: National anthem singers 2022| Game 3 national anthem
The World Series is the annual championship series of Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and Canada, contested between the champion teams of the American League (AL) and the National League (NL) since 1903. The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter of the Black Pumas opened Game 1 of the Fall Classic on Friday with a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner”, which featured several lyrical errors and pitch issues.
Burton was in trouble at the Houston Astros’ performance at Minute Maid Park, but the audacity didn’t really begin until he reached the second stanza. To get an idea of what went wrong, here are the first two stanzas of the national anthem as they should be sung.

Grammy-nominated singer Eric Burton lost track of the song during “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the opening of the World Series on Friday night between Houston and Philadelphia.
With players and staff on the field for the traditional pre-game ceremony, and a giant American flag unfurled in the outfield, the Black Pumas band leader walked off the track in the second row. He sang: “How proud we cheer in the last streaming of twilight” instead of “shining”.
He rightly continued: “Whose broad stripes and bright stars through perilous battle.” But then, “What were we watching instead of O’er’s ramparts streaming so heroically?” He backtracked from “Kya proud se hum twilight ke last mein jai ho” before singing “streaming” instead of “shiny”.
