The Windsor Spitfires are a Canadian junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The team is based in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1971, the franchise was promoted to the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League for the 1975–76 season. An unrelated OHA Junior A Spitfire team, founded in 1946, went on to become the Hamilton Tiger Cubs in 1953 and in 1996. The current OHL went through other iterations/moves to become the Erie Otters.

Jan Massack scored an overtime winner to guide the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 3-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires in Game 4 of the Ontario Hockey League Final on Friday night.
His goal at 7:35 in the extra period equalized the best-of-seven series in two games.
Hamilton’s Logan Morrison opened the scoring, but Josh Curry and Will Coyle equalized in the second period for the hometown Spitfires.
Nathan Steos tied the game with less than two minutes into regulation after the Bulldogs pulled his goalkeeper for an extra attacker.

The Windsor Spitfires are pleased to announce the addition of three new members to the organization’s ownership group.
At a news conference today, team president and owner Bob Boffner introduced Stephen Savage, John Savage and Brian Schwab, owners of Cypher Systems Group, to the media.
The company’s holdings include LaSalle Vipers Hockey Club and Belle River Canadiens Hockey Club.
“This is a very positive step for the Windsor Spitfire organization,” Boffner told WindsorSpitfire.com. “The new owners bring a wealth of business experience. Warren (Richelle) and I will remain in our roles, and do what we do. But it will help us take the organization to a whole new level.”
Cypher Systems Group joins Boughner and Rychel to form new ownership team. Following the reorganization, Peter Dobrich will no longer be the owner or governor of the Windsor Spitfire.
Obituaries
Former Windsor Spitfire video coach Sean Demuyank died in the early hours of Monday while on duty while working as a volunteer firefighter in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
DeMuyanck, 35, left the Spitfires to pursue a career as a firefighter after the team’s 2017 Memorial Cup title.
“He was always helpful and always in a good mood and I considered him a friend,” Spitfires head coach Trevor Letowski said on Monday. “A real nice guy and I’m just in shock.”
According to a release, DeMuynck was responding to a fire at a structure in Wynnewood, PA at 10:34 p.m. with the Penn-Overbrook Hills Fire Company. on Sunday. At around 11:02 pm, a May Day call came. DeMuynck was located on the third floor of the residence and was unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital, but was declared brought dead at 12:22 pm on Monday.

The Windsor Spitfires would like to welcome Mark Savard as the new head coach of the hockey club. Savard is a native of Peterborough Ont., and played his junior career with the Oshawa Generals before being drafted 91st overall in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.
