Contract

Merrifield, 33, originally signed a four-year contract ahead of the 2019 season. The deal was worth a guaranteed $16.25 million and included a fifth-year option for 2023. In April, the Royals exercised their club option at Merrifield for 2023 and added a reciprocal option for 2024.
