Walker Anthony Buehler (born July 28, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores and was a member of their 2014 College World Series championship team. Buehler was selected by the Dodgers 24th overall in the 2015 MLB Draft from Vanderbilt and made his MLB debut in 2017. He was an All-Star in 2019 and 2021 and helped the Dodgers win the 2020 World Series.

Analysis
Buehler was not at his fastest in the Dodgers’ home opener, throwing only 60 of 98 pitches to strike and running three batsmen. However, he kept the Reds off the scoreboard for five innings and needed one more out to start his first quality of the campaign, before Aristides Aquino ended his night with a two-run homer in sixth. . Buehler has been fine through his first two starts, allowing four runs and recording a 9:5K:BB in 10 frames. Walker is Anthony Buehler’s longtime girlfriend and now fiancé Mackenzie Marcinek. It is not clear when they started dating, but they have been together for quite some time.

Buehler is from Lexington, Kentucky, where she attended Henry Clay High School and then played on the mound at Vanderbilt University. Marcinek reportedly grew up in Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in family science and another bachelor’s degree in elementary education and teaching.

The couple has been together since at least 2011, when Buehler was still in high school. Now that he’s become a mainstay in the rotation at Dodger Stadium, she keeps up with him.

Buehler attended Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 14th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign and instead made his move to Vanderbilt University. Commitment respected.

As a freshman in 2013, he made 9 starts and appeared in 16 games. He had a 4-3 record with a 3.14 earned run average (ERA) and 57 strikes. As a sophomore, he led 12-2 with 111 strikeouts and 2.64 ERA and was a member of the 2014 College World Series championship team.  On June 16, 2014, Buehler played a relief 5.1 inning without a hit, retiring the first nine batsmen and 6–4 at the University of California Irvine in Vanderbilt’s 6–4 victory. In the victory, 7 batsmen were dismissed.

After the 2014 season, Buehler played for Team USA and the Yarmouth-Denis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). He posted a 0.63 earned run average with 24 strikeouts in 28.2 innings for the Red Sox.  In the 2014 CCBL playoffs, he conceded a run in 15.1 innings, won both his starts, and was the co-winner of MVP honors,  leading the Red Sox to the league championship. 

In 2015, as a junior he posted a 2.97 ERA in 78.2 innings for the Commodores, while scoring 81 runs in 25 runs. During his three-year college career, he scored 20-7 runs in 49 games with an ERA of 2.88. Out for 249 against only 83 walks.
