Pitch count

Walker Buehler threw 52 pitches in an astonishing 4.2 innings in his spring training debut this year, but then didn’t appear in another Cactus League game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers had a right-handed pitch in the B game at Camelback Ranch when Buehler stretched to 74 pitches. The next exhibition was taking the mound against the LA Angels in the first game of the Freeway Series.

The outing, which was Buehler’s final tuneup before the start of his first career opening day, produced rocky results. He took part in the planned five innings, but also conceded three home runs in the Dodgers’ 5–1 defeat.

Buehler sometimes struggled with his order and attributed the subpar outing to potentially too much experimentation, via MLB.com’s Juan Toribio

On Monday, he kept the Diamondbacks on three hits and no walks, dismissing 10 batsmen on 108 pitches. Mackenzie has actually known Walker for years, as they both grew up together in Kentucky. Of course, she has traveled to L.A. for much of her career, and the pair travels frequently.

According to Walker’s MLB profile, he and McKenzie began dating in high school. They’ve been together ever since, and “high school sweetheart” has the perfect definition.

Mackenzie and Walker recently celebrated a major milestone in their relationship: They own the house! He bought his home in Lexington, KY, and settled down well.

Even more exciting was how McKenzie announced the news of her and Walker’s engagement in March. She posted the beautiful diamond ring on her Instagram page along with a simple ring emoji.
