The Hurricanes were already without forward Nino Niedreiter, who missed two games with an upper body injury during practice on Saturday and will not travel to Tampa. Brind’Amour said Sunday that Niederreiter is “very, very suspicious” of the rest of the series.

Carolina, who trail a best-of-7 series, has scored two goals in two matches, none on strength.

“Obviously Nino missed the first two games, it looks like there’s a little hole there, maybe,” said Storm goalkeeper Alex Nedeljkovic. “We were missing something. Then losing ‘Trow’ in the second period. They are both big parts of our offense and not even (just) offense. Trow is a lot of face-to-face, Power play, PK, 5-on-5, big face-off at our own end. So it’s two big pieces, but we’ve been battling injuries all year with just regular injuries or people losing time because of COVID. Whatever it is, people are really confident with someone coming and confident that they will step up and fill those vacancies.”
