Knee injury
After weeks of secrecy surrounding Victor Oladipo’s knee injury, the Miami Heat announced that the two-time All-Star will undergo season-ending surgery on his right quadriceps tendon tomorrow.
This news means Oladipo will have played only four games in Heat uniform before hitting free agency this off-season. After the Heat seem to have been in an Oladipo trade – except for Kelly Olinek, the repeatedly injured Avery Bradley and the 2022 pick swap – the injury turns the waters bad.
Last month, he sought a medical opinion with the team’s consent, and the team’s brief press release specifically states that Oladipo himself decided to go ahead with the surgery. This is the same right knee the former All-Star guard injured in January of 2019, when he suffered a torn quadriceps tendon as a member of the Indiana Pacers. It is also the first time Heat has specified the injury as being located on the right quadriceps tendon. Injury reports for later games described Oladipo as having pain in his right knee (with no time limit for rejoining the team).
