Venus Ebony Starr Williams is an American professional tennis player. A former world No. 1 in both singles and doubles, Williams is widely regarded as one of the all-time greats of the sport of tennis.

First pro match:
Williams made her debut at the Bank of the West Classic in October 1994. In her very first match she was up against fellow American Shaun Stafford, who had reached the fourth round at Roland Garros earlier that year. She made a triumphant start to her professional career, winning her debut match 6-3 6-4.
On October 31, 1994, Williams turned pro at 14 years old. In 1997, she became the first woman since Pam Shriver in 1978 to reach the final of her first U.S. Open. In 1998, she won her first Grand Slam at the Australian Open. A year later, she won the French Open women’s doubles tournament with her sister.

Before the latest WTA rankings update, Venus Williams was ranked at 170th. However, Williams has since fallen to 314th with 420 points, dropping a total of 144 positions in a single week. The significant drop comes as a result of the last of the 2019 ranking points being removed from the players’ points totals.

During his final four seasons, he was a member of the St. Louis Rams. Williams received eight Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro honors, as well as being on the second NFL 1990s All-Decade Team. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
