The main attraction at Haggerty High School in Florida was Riley Greene, who finished 5th overall for the Tigers that June. Grissom was the shortest stop at that school, and while he wasn’t as highly respected, the Braves liked him enough to go over the $125K limit in the 11th round and sign for $347,500. He rewarded his investment by hitting pretty much everywhere as a pro, from his summer debut in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League to the alternate site where he was one of the youngest players, including one in 2021. The full-season started. He raked in the A ball and earned a late promotion to High-A.

Grissom displays excellent bat-to-ball skills with a very good attitude on a regular basis. He has a strong feel for the barrel from the right side of the plate, manages his bat well, runs and rarely gets out. He is shorter than the ball with relatively simple hitting mechanics and has solid bat speed. The Braves hope to continue to fill out his 6-foot-3 frame and gain more power as he matures.

As solid as Grissom is at the plate, it is less clear where he may have been defensively related to the long haul. He still has seen more time at shortstop than at any other position, but he has played a fair amount of third as well as second. He has a hand to stay on the left side of the infield, where he’s more comfortable and while he doesn’t always have silky-smooth actions, he’s a solid keeper. If he can’t play short, he may need to raise his power profile a bit to fit into hot corners on a regular basis.

After losing second baseman Orlando Arcia on the injured list, the Atlanta Braves will look to their form system against the Boston Red Sox.

Archaea suffered a left hamstring injury while running base during the top 10th inning of Atlanta’s 9-7 win over Boston on Tuesday. MLB Pipeline (98 overall), according to Von Grissom, the Braves placed a second baseman on the IL and called their No. 1 prospect in his place. The 21-year-old will bat at ninth in the order in Wednesday’s game.

Grissom will surely get a memorable Major League debut with him being at Fenway Park.

“I got the call last night around 11 or 12,” Grissom said, according to Kevin McAlpine of the Braves radio network. “It wasn’t what I thought. I didn’t know, I thought I was in trouble. I couldn’t even speak for a long time, all my childhood dreams came true. I thought I was having a heart attack.” Is.”
