Vs San Diego State Footbal

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah football team suffered a 33-31 3OT loss to San Diego State in a non-conference finale.
It was a wild final two minutes of regulation and overtime that saw Utah fall 1-2 for the first time since 2007.
Charlie Brewer started the game and went 14-for-26 for 104 yards and an interception. Cam Rising entered the game in the third quarter and finished with 153 yards and three touchdowns.
San Diego State would get their first point on the board with a 51-yard field goal, giving Utah a 7-3 lead, with 1:54 left in the opening quarter. The Utes would get a field goal in their own middle to go up 10-3 during the second quarter.
Utah caught some brakes on that drive. They were punting when SDSU blocked the punt and returned it for TD but the Aztecs were called offside. It fired sticks for Utes. Later in the drive when SDSU stopped Utah in third, they had a defender and went out to target.
When Utah kicked SDSU after a field goal, Jordan Bird took it home for a 100-yard TD to tie the game.
Utah’s first game of overtime was a 25-yard TD pass from Rising to Jaylen Dixon and the game was tied at 31. The Utes got the ball back in the second overtime and Jadon Redding missed a 37-yard field goal.
SDSU changed their two points in the third OT. Conor O’Toole could not pull the ball in a Utah attempt and the game ended.
Utah dropped 1-2 on the season. They will return to Rice-Eccles Stadium to play the Pac-12 on Saturday, September 25 against Washington State. Kickoff is at 12:30 pm. MDT on the Pac-12 network.
