Prediction

The United States could virtually seal a trip to Qatar if it can beat Panama in the teams’ FIFA World Cup qualifying match in Orlando on Sunday.

The USMNT enters this fixture in second place in a race for three automatic berths after a 0-0 draw against Mexico on Thursday in Mexico City.

A win over Panama, as well as a draw or loss to Costa Rica in El Salvador, will officially book the Americans a place in the World Cup later this year. If Costa Rica and the U.S. If both win, the Ticos will have to beat the oncoming Americans and have enough goal difference to take them out of third place.

Panama are now in fifth place, one point behind Costa Rica for fourth place which comes with an intercontinental playoff berth. Its only current guarantee of a top-four finish, after a 1-1 home draw to Honduras on Thursday, is the U.S. and have to win their last two games at home to Canada.

Hat Trick

In the second half, it was all over the USA again, Pulisic scoring his hat-trick with an audacious goal, taking a stellar touch, giving a defender a nutmeg and finishing with class. The hat-trick was actually the first in Pulisic’s youth career in World Cup qualifying.

While Pulisic would steal the show – for good reason as he scored his first hat-trick for the side and qualified Eddie Johnson for the fourth-most USMNT goalscorer in a World Cup with 12 goals – Antoine Robinson showed up that day. It looks like as long as Robinson is healthy, he will be the starting left back for the national team as two of his assistants on the night showed what Berhalter wanted from his fullback.

Qualifying

Christian Pulisic scored a hat-trick, including a first-half penalty kick brace, to guide the US men’s national team to a 5-1 win over Panama in their final match of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying at the Exploria Stadium on Sunday.

USMNT, who scored three goals in the opening 30 minutes and had four goals at halftime, will look to book their place in Qatar 2022 in Costa Rica on Wednesday night with a win, draw or loss that doesn’t reach for a six – Round margin. Panama, who received an Annibal Godoy consolation goal four minutes from full time, were relegated from qualifying.

Moments before kickoff, Costa Rica won a 2–1 win over El Salvador, which meant that a qualifying party would be put on hold. But the Exploria Stadium was still lit up as the USMNT played with confidence, attacking on purpose and playing the best half of the Greg Berhalter era for a rough run on Panama.

There were a lot of memorable moments, but what about Pulisic’s third goal – two tremendous touches after receiving the ball from Antoine Robinson and a simple finish in front of Mejia.
