The defense took the night off as Priscilla Cachoira won a slugfest at UFC Vegas 49 with Ji Yeon Kim in an electrifying flyweight fight.
Kachoira was able to get the job done thanks to her tremendous power which supported Kim several times during the fight and then closed the fight with a series of bad elbows that opened up several cuts in the South Korean’s face. While it was a close fight, Kachoira did enough to secure the victory and all three judges turned the fight 29-28 in their favor.
During all three rounds, the flyweights were more than happy to stand up and trade with Kachoira’s wild shots, while Kim was a bit more technical with her combinations. While it wasn’t the most tactical game plan, Kachoira was certainly throwing with power behind every punch and Kim began to be a little careful to fire in multiple exchanges.
Recognizing that her activity was declining a bit, Kim became more active as the second round went on as she began to increase her production, while attempting to keep Kachoira on her backfoot more often. Kim begins to find a home for a slick jab of the left hand and then a stern right jab behind her, causing some swelling on Kachoira’s face.

Makhachev kept up the pressure as “King” tried to break free and referee Herb Deb stepped in for stoppage.
