Main card lineup
Alexander Volkanowski looks to defend his third featherweight championship against “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung in the main event of UFC 273 from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Aussie is a big favorite to retain their title after picking up the Korean Zombie for their next defense. He was originally supposed to fight Max Holloway for the third time, but when an injury put him off the cards, Jung was ready to step in for his second crack at the UFC title.
There will also be a fight for gold in the co-main event. Petr Yan will seek revenge for his disqualification loss to Aljamain Sterling. The two had fought a year earlier, when Yan knelt on a fallen sterling, leaving him unable to continue.
Elsewhere on the main card, Khamzat Chimayev will face his biggest test ever. He holds his undefeated record against former title challenger Gilbert Burns.
This is a dark card with many important battles. Here’s a last-minute look at the schedule along with the biggest questions and the odds that the marquee will dictate fights.

Card results
Alexander Volkanowski retained the featherweight belt at UFC 273 after defeating Chan Sung Jung via fourth-round TKO on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. The Australian champion dominated from the opening seconds, landing punch after punch on “Korean Zombie” until referee Herb Dean stepped in. To end the bout early after a crushing blow in the fourth round.
Volkanovski (24-1) has now won his first 11 fights in the UFC, the second-longest active win in the promotion behind only welterweight champion Kamaru Osman (15). Longtime title contender Korean Zombie (17–7) said he needed time after the fight to decide whether he would compete in MMA again.
In the co-main event, Aljamain Sterling retained his UFC bantamweight belt in a close fight with former champion Petr Yan. Sterling used his superior grappling skills by taking down Yan – a brilliant striker – several times during a battle of ground-and-pound and submission attempts. Yan closed the match with two strong rounds but the judges gave Sterling a split decision victory based on his early success.
The early leaders of the 2022 Fight of the Year could be just before the two title fights. Rising stars Khamzat Chimayev and Gilbert Burns fought hard for all three rounds, fighting for the ages, possibly falling short in the final five minutes of action. It appeared that Chimaev had a large gas tank late and landed enough in the final round to give Burns the lead on the scorecard in a unanimous decision victory.
