One of the most anticipated UFC fights of the year returns to New York City on Saturday night for the UFC 268 card. Headlining the action from Madison Square Garden is a welterweight title rematch between champion Kamaru Usman and rival Colby Covington.

Usman won the first meeting between the pair at UFC 245 in December 2019 with a fifth-round TKO. The fight was filled with back-and-forth action, before Usman eventually broke Covington, scoring several knockdowns and eventually forcing the referee to step down with only 50 seconds into the bout. Covington has since claimed a conspiracy against him in which the referee cheated him out of a win with a “quick stop”.

Usman vs Covington is not the only championship rematch on the cards as Weili Zhang will challenge Rose Namajunas for the women’s strawweight championship. Namajunas became the two-time strawweight champion in April, knocking out Zhang after a vicious head kick and then landing on heavy ground and pound.

The card also symbolizes the return of a fight legend in a special contest. Former Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar continues his journey in bantamweight when he takes on Marlon Vera. Edgar, 40, has fought for the hype for more than 14 years with championship bouts at 155 and 145 pounds. He stepped up to 135 in August 2020, where he won a split decision victory over Pedro Munhoz to revive his aspirations to reach the title once again. But a vicious knockout by Cory Sandhagen in February and now the New Jersey legend will be looking to return to Vera against one of the toughest clients at bantamweight, who has stunned in consecutive wins and losses since 2020.

With a lot going on Saturday night, before we get to our staff’s predictions and selections for the PPV portion of the festivities, let’s take a closer look at the full fight card with the latest odds from Caesars Sportsbook.

Fight card time

A major event of the fighting calendar is back in a big way on Saturday night when the UFC returns to Madison Square Garden in New York. Given a prominent place in PPV slotting of promotions since the legalization of MMA in 2017, the UFC usually heads out to New York City and this week is no different. Two title fights headline a return to the Garden after two years, with a slew of interesting bouts leading up to UFC 268 on November 6.

The two title matches rematch and the main event saw bitter rivals Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington knock it out for the welterweight championship. Usman made a fifth-round TKO of Covington in 2019 to make his first defense of the belt. He has since gone on the defense three times, while Covington is fighting just once in that time frame.

In addition, champion Rose Namjunas begins her second reign in the women’s strawweight division when she takes on former titleholder Weili Zhang in a rematch from April. Namajunas broke a 20-fight win streak for Zhang with a knockout in the first round to reclaim the title. Not to be outdone, a big, mild conflict with Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler clashing.
