Injury:
Juhasz later returned to the UConn bench in sweats, with her left hand/wrist wrapped and in a sling. Her teammates embraced her after the final buzzer.
Entering Monday, Juhasz was averaging 7.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 20.4 minutes per game for the Huskies.
Juhasz, a 6-foot-5 forward, played her first three years of college basketball at Ohio State before transferring to Storrs in the offseason. She came off the bench Monday and made an immediate impact with her energy on the glass (two rebounds) and a layup to help UConn extend a second-quarter lead.
Roster:
(2) UConn 91, (1) NC State 87 (2OT) | Greensboro Region |
(1) Louisville 62, (3) Michigan 50 | Wichita Region |
History was made when No. 2 seed UConn and No. 1 NC State faced each other in the first game of the day. The Huskies entered the game as a four-point favorite, but the Wolfpack were tough opponents and 40 minutes were not enough to get a winner.
No. 3 seed Michigan was competing in its first ever Elite Eight round. No. 1 Louisville had control for most of the night, but the Wolverines were relentless and stayed in the game.
Championships:
The UConn Huskies women’s basketball team is the college basketball program representing the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, in NCAA Division I women’s basketball competition.
They completed a seven-season tenure in the American Athletic Conference in 2019–20, and came back to the Big East Conference for the 2020-21 season.
