Tyson Fury defended his WBC heavyweight belt by defeating Dillian White by a sixth-round KO in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday. Fury landed a brutal right uppercut and followed up with a push that sent White quickly to the mat before the referee finished early.

Fury improved to 31-0-1 and handed his first defeat to fellow Brit, White (28-3), since KO’s loss to Alexander Povetkin in August 2020.

Fury’s enormous reach and height advantage proved the difference on Saturday. Every time White tried to close the distance, he got a strong jaw or ended up in a decisive position with a very heavy fury. Short shots throughout the bout took a toll on White – who suffered a cut above his eye on an accidental headbutt in the fourth round – until the disastrous final shot.

“I guess that’s it,” Fury said after the win.

Fury leads the bout saying that he will retire after the fight. If he doesn’t follow through with those plans, he could establish Alexander Usyk, winner of the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion in June – and former titleholder Anthony Joshua as the undisputed in the division.

Another option could be a crossover fight with UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Nganou. Fury brought Ngannu into the ring after the bout and said that he would work to complete it in a hybrid boxing fight with small gloves.

Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KO) may have made his final walk in the boxing ring live on ESPN pay-per-view (PPV) from inside London’s Wembley Stadium today (Saturday, April 23, 2022) Is. , England. It was the “Gypsy Kings”‘ return to home soil and they made the most of it, defeating Dillian White (28-3, 19 KO) by a sixth-round TKO (uppercut) to defend their WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles.

Fury hit his best punches in the opening round as he used distance and timing to keep White on defense. “Body Snatcher” tried to retaliate with loping power shots, but his footwork was so slow that nothing meaningful could come of it. In the fourth, White landed an elbow during a wild exchange that really angered Fury. “Gypsy King” eventually responded with heavy body shots and dirty boxing as the two heavyweights tied in the corner.

Britons will clash at Wembley Stadium in front of 96,000 fans on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old Fury will defend the title he won in February 2020.

White, 34, had kept a low profile since the announcement of the fight, frustrated with his sharing of the purse.

“It’s a big fight and I’m excited to be here,” White said. “Sorry, I couldn’t be here before, but here I am now.”

He missed out on detailing his reluctance to attend events such as a media conference last month, but said: “There are two sides to every story.”

The Londoner said: “You hear a side because they say a lot of things. Because I don’t say anything, they say you’re scared or hiding.”
