Five-time PRCA world champion steer wrestler Tyler Wegspack is expected to be out for an extended period of time after suffering a left hand injury at the Sisters (Ore.) Rodeo on June 8.
The exact injury was a rupture of the bicep tendon. This happened in the second half of their rodeo. Wagespack told ProRodeo.com it was a freak injury and required surgery.
“When I came through the line on my second run at Sisters it felt like a baseball almost hit me in the crease of my arm,” said Wegspack, 33. Then when I went to get off my steer I had no strength in my left arm.
“Then I realized at that moment that something was wrong with me. On the way back, I thought my biceps were torn. The next morning, I got on the plane back to Salt Lake City, had an MRI. It was, and had to go under the knife for surgery on Monday morning.”
