Groin injury
On the Celtics side, big man Robert Williams III (left knee pain) and guard Marcus Smart (right ankle sprain) are available to play as Boston closes out the series and sets up an NBA Finals matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
Heat coach Eric Spoelstra said after the team’s firing on Friday that Herro was “doing everything he could” to persuade Miami’s coaches and training staff to give him a chance to play, but to keep him out. The decision was made.
“These are not easy conversations or decisions,” Spoelstra said. “He’s definitely made progress, but he’s not quite ready, you know, to step into this kind of intensity of a game.”
Herro originally injured his groin in a Game 3 win by Miami last Saturday and then missed Games 4 and 5, losing both heats. Spoelstra did not want to go into details about how serious the injury was.
“I think it’s irrelevant to go into all the details,” Spoelstra said. “He’s not able to play tonight. As badly as he wants to get out, it’s the most responsible decision we have made.”

The team announced that Miami Heat guard Tyler Herrow has been ruled out for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics due to a left groin strain due to ongoing strain.
“He’s definitely made progress, but he’s not quite ready,” Heat coach Eric Spoelstra said ahead of Friday’s match.
Hero suffered an injury in the fourth quarter of Game 3, and Kia Sixth Man of the Year has since been out of action.
Miami has struggled aggressively in his absence, averaging 81 points in the last two games – both Boston won. The Heat shot just 33.3% off the floor in Game 5.
