Tukka Mikel Rusk (born 10 March 1987) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). Rask was drafted 21st overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs before being traded to the Bruins.

Rask’s original plan, one of the best goalscorers in Bruins history with a franchise-record 306 wins, was to complete a short conditioning stint in the minors before rejoining Boston.
The AHL squad was scheduled to play last Friday and Sunday at home against the Leigh Valley Phantoms, however due to COVID-19 protocols both were postponed and rescheduled for April 11 and 19, leaving the Rask’s game Action delayed.
Rask stated that he only needed “one or two” games before he felt he would be ready to return to the Bruins, although it now appears that he will head to the NHL without skating in the minors. Will go
Rusk, 34, who had off-season surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip, said he made a full recovery from the procedure. The injury made it difficult for him to move around the crease effectively.
In recent weeks, Rask has been seen skating at the Bruins’ practice facility when Linus Ullmark, who was absent with an illness, joined the team as an emergency backup.

“Just one or two,” he said. “It all depends on how I feel tomorrow and what not. Physically I feel great. Obviously, it’s been a while since the sporting action, so we get to tomorrow’s game. Will do and see what happens after that. I believe it won’t be an issue.”
Rask’s contract expired after last season. He had surgery to repair a torn hip labrum shortly after Boston’s 2021 playoff run ended. Rehab has been great for the Finnish netminder, and pain isn’t a problem for him right now.
“I feel great. The biggest issue for me was holding the joint down and causing pain. So it’s gone, and that makes a big difference,” Rusk said. “Every time I go to the butterfly and wake up, I don’t even have to think about it closing in on me again and causing that pain. So I feel great. “

Rask, 34, was a free agent who remained unsigned while recovering from an operation to repair a torn labrum in his hip. He agreed to a pro-rata $1 million, one-year deal that would pay him $545,000.

“This is our house,” he said. “At this point in my life and my career, I see no reason to go anywhere else, especially with the health I’m looking at now and five or six months of recovery time. Sweeney said Swayman, who is 8-6 with 2.26 goals against an average, was disappointed but not surprised by the demotion. Ullmark, 28, a veteran who is in the first season of a four-year, $20 million contract, is not eligible to be sent to the minors.

Tukka Rask is expected to make his season debut for the Boston Bruins on Thursday when they host the Philadelphia Flyers (7 p.m. ET; ESPN, SNO, SNE, TVAS, NHL LIVE).
The goalkeeper signed a one-year, $1 million contract with Boston on Tuesday. He had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right hip in late July and is working through his rehab at a Bruins practice facility. He began rehearsing informally with Boston in early December.
“We intend to start Tukka tomorrow,” coach Bruce Cassidy said on Wednesday.
Rask backed Linus Ulmark in a 5-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.
“I’ve been practicing with the team for a long time,” Rusk said. “I’ve been skating for a few months. So the sooner you throw me out there, the better. You can practice whatever you want, the sport is a completely different situation. … Physically I’m ready, Just making sure I don’t get too depressed mentally.”

Rusk made 25 saves on his return from hip surgery as the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 on Thursday night behind a hat-trick from David Pasternak.
“It was great to feel that I had the ability to move both ways,” said Rusk, who tackled very few shots but stopped all 12 coming his way in the third round.
Rask, the most winning goalkeeper in franchise history, is in rehab from surgery last summer to repair a torn labrum. He was solid in the nets on Thursday and got a lot of help from his teammates.
Pasternak scored all three goals for the Bruins, and he restricted Philadelphia to 27 shots, while securing their fourth straight and seventh win in eight games.
