Tulsa is the county seat of Tulsa County, which is Oklahoma’s most densely populated county[6], with urban sprawl reaching into Osage, Rogers, and Wagoner counties.
State Prediction
Week 1 was a difficult one for the state of Oklahoma in terms of football. Tulsa fell to an FCS opponent, Oklahoma State was on the verge of a similar humiliation, and the Sooners didn’t exactly thrash Tulane.
In Week 2, the Cowboys and Golden Hurricane will battle to prove that last week was just a blip on the radar.
But a win is a win, and Tulsa can’t claim the same after losing 19-17 to FCS member UC Davis in another dreadful offensive performance.
The Golden Hurricane, who finished second in the American Athletic Conference a year ago and were anticipated to challenge Cincinnati for the top slot again in 2021 with an experienced group returning, are suddenly 0-2 to start the season.
State
At Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, the Oklahoma State football team faced the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.
The Cowboys won their first game of the 2021 college football season, beating Missouri State 23-16 on Sept. 4, despite starting quarterback Spencer Sanders missing the game due to COVID-19 regulations.
In Sanders’ absence, sophomore Shane Illingworth started and completed 22 of 40 passes for 315 yards, a touchdown, and an interception against Missouri State.
Football
To be as average as they were in the startling 19-17 loss to UC Davis, the Golden Hurricane have too many elements returning from a fantastic 2020 season.
They were excellent against the run, and Deneric Prince and Shamari Brooks led a ground effort that rumbled for over eight yards per carry and 283 yards, but three turnovers, 12 penalties, and too many issues on third downs contributed to the loss.
